Why am I a BriarPatch Co-op Member?, and what is my vision for the co-op?

I hope every person reading this blog will write a comment. Without including everyone's vision the Briarpatch is only a store yet by including all of you it will become a truly great place where we can learn and grow and find community and that's what it's really all about.

You are invited to come to Google Groups, give your ideas and comment on others! http://groups.google.com/group/friendsofbriarpatch

We as a northern Sierras food cooperative have and should use the notions of volunteerism, barter, trade, community service, local gardeners' / farmers' bias, CSAs, a cooperative plus attitude as well as our dollars, common and creatively uncommon sense to assist the Briar Patch in this time of transition.
We have an extraordinary opportunity to be a 21st century example of an actively learning self correcting community providing excellent organic (previously, the Standard), biodynamic, increasingly local produce, raw dairy, herbs, animal and vegan, non GMO, a veritable needs oriented cornicopia of life sustaining substances and products, seasonal and unique to this region.
We have the chance to work (and play) together, recognize weaknesses and assist each other in working out solutions for the greater good. Diversity by definition means known differences - therein lies apprehension and strength. The appearance of pettiness and tedious events of resolutions inevitably occur - yet we are courageous at heart - lets show it

'm a BriarPatch member because I want to be part of a community that has a vision for the future of healthy food locally and in the world. At the time I don't feel like that is happening. It is going to take leadership and vision to allow and encourage the members to contriute to and work toward this goal. Otherwise I might as well shop anyhere.
